SPECIMEN AND COLLECTION REQUIREMENTS:

CAUSES FOR REJECTION:  Improperly labeled specimen; specimen frozen, on ice, or refrigerated; contaminated isolates; raw specimen or swab

STORAGE AND SHIPPING:  Room temperature

USES:  Identification or confirmation of suspected Campylobacter infection

NORMAL VALUES:  Campylobacter spp. identification

METHOD:  Identification of the organism using gas chromatography and biochemical methods

DESCRIPTION AND COMMENTS:  This test is NOT intended as a primary culture service.  When a submitting MTF has an isolate it cannot identify, this is the proper test to order when forwarding the specimen to DPALS for identification.
